The Kenya Water Collective Action Program is a 3 year (2023-2026) project supported through a collaborative arrangement between WWF and a UK based Organization, the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), and funded by several UK food and drink companies: Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury, Flamingo and Coop. This is in conformity with the UK food businesses (retailers, food service businesses, suppliers, and brands) commitment to take action on the water risks and impacts in their global supply chains via the Courtauld Water Roadmap with an overarching target to ensure that by 2030, 50% of the UK's food (domestic and internationally sourced) are sourced from catchments that are sustainably management as set out in the Sustainable Water Management Metric. The overall programme is supported by WWF-UK and delivery of activities in Kenya is supported by WWF-Kenya. Project Goal:
By 2030, collective action and improvements in water quality and flow in source areas for UK food and drink sector, lead to increased freshwater ecosystem health and business resilience. Objectives: • To strengthen compliance with water abstraction and waste discharge guidelines in key source areas • To empower citizens' environmental health monitoring framework and development of scorecards for evidence building. • To improve corporate knowledge on water risks and development of stewardship plans to contribute towards sustainable water management in the basin. • To Improve adoption of Sustainable Production and Consumption in Key Source Areas • To mobilize additional resources to introduce water stewardship in the other source areas r Njoro Catchment Management for Enhanced Ecosystem SErvices and Livelihoods (NEESEL) Project., type: esriFieldTypeString
